Brooke Parsons

Viticulture Analyst

Brooke Parsons spent her childhood and adolescence on a 15-acre farm in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley. Her enterprising parents involved their children in their flourishing businesses—growing hydroponic tomatoes for local markets, raising dairy cattle, and tending the family vineyard. Country life was all about farm and family activities. After graduating from El Molino High School, Brooke moved to New York, where she attended Cornell University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a minor in viticulture.

The produce industry was Brooke’s initial focus. She worked in fruit production on both the East and West Coasts before returning home to Sonoma County, a far-flung and diverse growing region. “We have unique topography, many pockets and hillsides with distinctive soils, climate and growing conditions,” Brooke notes.

In 2021 Brooke joined BVM to fill the newly-created role of Vineyard Analyst. She explored each of the BVM-managed ranches, measuring and recording data on soil moisture, crop size, grape maturity. She quickly developed extensive knowledge about each unique growing site within every ranch, updating and disseminating this data to Duff, Matt and the Supervisors.

A scientist with intuitive proficiency, Brooke leads BVM’s sustainable program. She is a firm believer of this environmentally sound and holistic business model. “Sustainable certification is a tool that provides a framework for self-analysis and continual improvement,” she says. “BVM is forward-thinking, always interested in new ideas and technology while providing a supportive environment.”

A farm girl at heart, Brooke enjoys spending time with her family and friends, numerous outdoor activities, and working on home and yard improvement projects. She is a member of the Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers.
