Bevill Vineyard Management invites applications for the following positions:

Position: Field Supervisor/Vineyard Manager

The Field Supervisor/Vineyard Manager will be assigned an area of jurisdiction and will be responsible for supervising and coordinating operations of vineyard crews, tractor drivers, and equipment operators; overseeing proper vineyard practices are being completed; and monitoring the conditions of the vineyards in their jurisdiction.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ability to manage multiple crews
  • Assign task such as planting, canopy management, pruning, trellis and irrigation installation/repair
  • Ensure safety measures, company policy, and COVID-19 protocols are followed at all times
  • Communicate and assist in the resolution of issues in the field as they arise (labor, production, equipment, etc.)
  • Trains crews in proper vineyard practices and procedures

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide Company Partner with updates daily and streamline communication to ensure the completion of day-to-day tasks
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of inventory and materials in ranches within jurisdiction
  • Effectively communicate and work cooperatively with office staff
  • Provide accurate work estimates and monitor budgets to ensure work is within budget
  • Participate in required trainings, supervisor meetings, and other trainings as required
  • Perform other tasks as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish – Verbal and written communication skills
  • Understanding of agriculture/vineyard practices and procedures
  • Demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills
  • Possess a valid California’s Drivers License and clean driving record
  • Strong work ethic and moral character
  • Comfortable engaging with company’s clientele

Education & Experience:

  • The Field Supervisor/Vineyard Manager will have 5+ years of farming and or vineyard experience, with prior experience in a supervisory role. In addition, a high school diploma or GED is required for this position.

Physical Requirement:

  • The Field Supervisor/Vineyard Manager must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs on a frequent basis. Someone is this position must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and be comfortable driving from different ranch locations and work locations, in all weather conditions. This position requires the ability to walk on steep, uneven, soft, and muddy terrain and be able to perform physical work in the vineyard.

Work Environment:

  • The Field Supervisor/Vineyard Manager position will primarily be working outside and exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Moreover, the individual must be okay to work in occasional extreme weather conditions, such as excessive heat or cold. This individual will be frequently exposed to wet, windy, and humid conditions.

    Position: Truck Driver – Class A Driver

    The Truck Driver will play a key role in day-to-day farm practice by loading, securing, and transporting farm equipment from company yard to the jobsite, transporting farm equipment/materials between ranches, and loading, picking up, and delivering grapes to wineries during the harvest season; all in a safe and timely manner.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • The Truck Driver position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Operate manual shift heavy weight vehicles with flatbed doubles and equipment trailers for transport and delivery of farm equipment and grapes
    • Load farm and construction equipment (tractors, forklifts, loaders, sprayers, etc.) and materials (erosion materials, wire, stakes, etc.) onto truck and trailer in a safe manner for transport
    • Secure load accordingly using fasteners such as chains and/or straps to ensure safe transport
    • Participate in harvest procedures by loading grape bins/gondolas and deliver grapes to wineries
    • Complete routine safety checks, and pre/post inspections of assigned vehicle daily
    • Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and other trainings/certifications as required
    • Streamline and maintain communication with shop and supervisors throughout the day to receive updates and further dispatch
    • Perform other tasks as needed

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    • Possess a valid Class A license with a clean driving record
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish – Verbal and written communication
    • Demonstrate good judgement and decision-making skills
    • Ability to follow instructions
    • Manage time efficiently
    • Strong work ethic and moral character
    • Display excellent customer service and professional mannerism during pickup and delivery operations, with an emphasis on grape deliveries to wineries during harvest

    Education & Experience:

    • The Truck/Bus Driver will have 3+ years of commercial driving experience, prior experience in an agricultural setting is preferred. In addition, a high school diploma or GED is appreciated but not required for this position.

    Physical Requirement:

    • The Truck/Bus Driver must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs on occasion. Someone in this position must be comfortable sitting and driving for long periods of time. Furthermore, someone is this position must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle and comfortable driving from different ranch locations and work locations, in all weather conditions. The Truck / Bus Driver must be able to operate farm equipment.

    Work Environment:

    • The Truck/Bus Driver is a driver’s position and will primarily be working behind the wheel and be exposed to outdoor weather conditions during transport. Moreover, the individual must be okay to work in occasional extreme weather conditions, such as excessive heat or cold. This individual may be exposed to wet, windy, and humid conditions. The Truck / Bus Driver will also be working in a shop setting on occasion.

      Position: Bus Driver – Class B Driver

      The Bus Driver will play an essential role by transporting employees to and from employer-provided housing and jobsites, in a safe and timely manner.

      • Transport employees to and from employer-provided housing to jobsite in a safe manner

      • Monitor bus activity by ensuring all COVID-19 protocols are abided by
      • Perform sanitization procedures as needed to maintain a clean and sanitary environment
      • Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and other trainings/certifications as required
      • Streamline and maintain communication with shop and supervisors throughout the day to receive updates and further dispatch
      • Perform other tasks as needed

        Position: Vineyard Laborer/Equipment Operator

        Perform the manual functions for developing and maintaining company vineyards with an elevated skillset.

        Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

        • Prune, tie, pick, train, weed, thin, de-leaf, plant, sucker, graft, harvest, or repair trellis, as needed to maintain or improve the condition of the vines.
        • Prepare and plant the vineyards.
        • Install trellis, irrigation, and drainage system in the new vineyards.
        • Properly always maintain safety procedures in all production areas, and to inform the Vineyard Supervisor of any safety problems that may arise.
        • Wine Grape Harvest: cut grape bunches off grape vines and into a tub, dumped into a bin, tractor driving, weed control and property maintenance, leaf picking, crop thinning, tally sheet recording, and picking with a machine harvester.
        • Non-essential duties may include other property maintenance or cleaning tasks, as requested.

        • $19.75 per hour
